A Poem by Theresa

sunlight seems provided,
(and just as easily evaded)
as it soundlessly slipped away
further from the dark side of the moon.

if only it were like clockwork
lunar phases waning
and waxing ecstatic

and the lasting discoveries
on that long and winding road,
that shotgun road
where

a pack would go missing,
and the keys clicked away
to avoid the coexistence.
cramped in like sardines
in a depressed f*****g can.

thoughts found a home,
a haven at last!
exploration and evolution
freedom and truth

delivered in a tiny package
overnight express
instantaneous
lifelong.
bonded.

we're bringing back the barter system.
trade for trade,
eye for an eye.

you can't get something for nothing, you know.

i'll hand myself away
served on a silver platter,
glittering and glistening
molded and plastic,

starry nights a mere memory
existing from the time Before.

all's fair in this love and this war,
you can't get something for nothing, you know.

these scattered pieces
the dust in the wind
longing to settle,
to be prophecies fulfilled.

weather it out-
and be the rider on the storm.

At some point you feel the 70's music references are just, well. Not sure how I feel about them. I loved how you repeated the "something for nothing" line, though.

Makes me wonder what it is you want, if what you're giving is so...inorganic. Molded and plastic. Makes me wonder what you expect to get.
