What's in a Sound?A Poem by Savannah B.
A car alarm in the distance,
It won't stop going off. It's relentless, so persistent Like a sickening cough. The strings are playing something So beautiful, tacky, sad, sweet. The wind chimes dance, tagging in. A pitter patter of light feet For hours, pensively pacing. Humming a presage so softly. The pouring of wine Into a clinking glass. Unsteady but fine, Seconds sullenly pass. Finally A crescendo creating great climax. The moment awaited arrives Showing cruel moments through vivid flashbacks Louder than buzzing hives. The slam of the door The drop of a tear The cracking of a heart The ticking of a clock The violin strings pulled to a break. The screeching wails high and low so fake. Glass hits the floor Along with blood and tears, Screaming for more Pleasant music to hear. A car alarm in the distance Never got turned off. So relentless and persistent, A fly in the broth. © 2017 Savannah B. |
