autopilot

autopilot

A Poem by Starbound25
"

everyday crap

"

Each morning finds me waking

Rubbing sleep from my eyes I see your side of the bed is still

Empty

I shower and get ready for work

All is normal

Sipping my morning coffee on my commute

I realize I made you an extra cup

Though you'll never be there to drink it

Taxed by customers and co workers and frivolous gossip

I go about the normal work routine

I eat my lunch, I chit chat, I even may laugh now and then

On my drive home a love song comes on the radio

Oh no they'll be none of that

I quickly change the station

At home I check my emails, I eat my dinner and by 8:30 I am in bed

I grab one of your shirts from the closet

There is barely any of your scent left on it

But enough to get me through the night

Till tomorrow when i go back on

autopilot

This is NOT boring at all. The hints in your lines added to the effect of how one's life goes on "as normally as can be" after the loss of a loved one, but it's not really normal at all. It is a heartfelt write.
