The Monster

The Monster

A Poem by Trisha C.
"

I am bipolar and this is how I feel when I have a bad episode. A lot of people don't understand mental illness or the people who suffer from it. This is the best description I could come up with.

"
I hide inside this dark, hollow shell
Living with a monster from Hell.
No escape, no relief in sight,
Its energy dark, its hold on me tight.
It waits in the shadows of my mind
It comes from behind when I am blind.
The monster strikes when I am weak
I'm stricken with rage and cannot speak.
When it shows its terrifying ugly face
I'm helpless but to scream and pace.
All I want in this life is to be free,
But I find that the monster is me.
