The Winner

The Winner

A Poem by Trisha C.
"

This is just one of the random pieces I wrote a long time ago. I really don't know where I got the idea.

"
I am your well of despair where all your sorrows hide,
I am your vast dream-scape where you feel safe inside.
I'm the dying flower you hold in your warm hand,
I am the quicksand of death under your feet where you stand.
I am your ball and chain where tragedy likes to dwell,
I could be you doorway to heaven or your ticket straight to hell.
I am your distant memory, an eternal mark of shame,
I am your map of the world, a simple life or death game.
I'm your soft and sweet nightmare, the door where time begins,
I'm your gambling demon. Roll the dice and see who wins.

This is a wonderful read. I especially admire the line "I am your map of the world, a simple life or death game." It makes you think about the turns life could take.

Seems a lament of lost love, precariously perched atop the fence. Wondering which way it might eventually tumble.

Strong lines with the hint of despair at times. Love the rhyme. Very well done!
