Two Leafs in a Lake

Two Leafs in a Lake

A Poem by AMetaphoricalSoul

I see you
Standing there
And I believe I am lucky
This is my other chance
To make things right for me
Because I want to be happy for once
I was laying in ruins on the ground
Wounded
And you picked me up
And mended this so-called wound
I'd like to say thank you
With tears in my eyes
Should I take the risk again
Of falling in love?
Should I open up to you?
You sweet smell of paradise
Believe me when I say
I'm scared
I just want to know
Will you be my spot of sunlight when it is raining?
I'm falling
In a good way
Because of you
The disease is spreading in me
Soon it will consume me
And I will become vulnerable to you
I wish to pass this disease on to you
And we can bask in it like two leafs in a lake
Don't let something this good not be shared
Things might work
We might happen
I just ask one thing from you
Don't tear apart my fresh wounds
That may never heal

I like the thought of "falling in love" as a disease. True enough, it is scary because giving your heart to someone requires openness and being open will make us vulnerable. Nice one, stan!

A good friend of mine once said: "Love is giving someone the ability to destroy you, but trusting them not to. " I think of that phrase when I read this. This poem strongly emphasizes how we all must put our guard down to receive love or it cannot be received. Great poem. A bold reminder of what love truly is. Bravo!
