Shame

It’s embarrassing

To stand out there, by myself

Everybody I know

Off on their own

Together

Everybody I don’t know

Surrounding me

With their backs turned

It’s so embarrassing

Standing in the cold

Completely ignored

I’d rather be alone

I know

Thankfully

It won’t last forever

So now I’ll just wait

And won’t participate

If I am noticed

I don’t want to grow towards

And to get attached

To the people of the place

I won’t belong to

For much longer

Because I don’t want to miss them

But

To the people I do know

And am already attached to

Shame on you
