Sweet Dreams Boy

Sweet Dreams Boy

A Poem by AMetaphoricalSoul

I can’t sleep

It’s not that I’m unable to sleep

But if I sleep

The black plague of memories will bring me to my knees

My dreams will be pitch black

When I lie alone in bed at night in the darkness

The darkness forces me to fall asleep

It makes my eyelids heavy

It makes me sink into my oh so comfortable bed

The struggle against sleeping is useless

It’s like a drug without addiction

And without the good feelings

But the pain and sickness is there

Tearing me to pieces

Chewing me up and spitting me out

I am lost in my own mind

A victim to chaos

My dreams will be my downfall

And I alone must prevent that
