Light of The DragonA Poem by AMetaphoricalSoulInspired by The Wheel of Time
Carrying this mountain of death and birth on my shoulders
Balanced precariously on this feather The weight of the world is my burden Passed down by my former selves Bestowed from the divine A Light to balance the Dark Like embers falling on dry grass To save everything or destroy it Time and time again With the turn of every Age I am marked by the sword to remember my name To set me on the path towards the price that I must pay Tying bonds that cannot break A living weapon Harder than stone or steel Just another man with the taint of my mistakes Humbled in sackcloth and ashes to find myself again I arrive unrestrained with the first glow of the morning My veins now filled with gold The Light bleeding out of me to cultivate the tears of salvation Do not wait for me in dread For I am the one you seek Heralding what was once lost To bring about the world anew Ushering in death and glory like lightning in the air A wind rises with this new beginning With the power of all those who fought against the Dark And as the sun sets after the long defeat Think not of me as the passing storm But as a memory of Light © 2019 AMetaphoricalSoul |
