Single Fading Light

Single Fading Light

A Poem by AMetaphoricalSoul

Through all the pain and misery
The misfortunes of my history
I’ve tried to keep a smile on my face
A tired straining that cannot be traced

The burden of my memories
A suffering worth centuries
Has shaped me into something frail
Pure empathy behind this veil

So please be gentle with my heart
One touch and it could fall apart
I’ll try to keep it all together
Just a fallen leaf in this bleak weather

I will fiercely resist my torment
Progress onward full of intent
But please excuse my fragile soul
My attempt to fill this empty hole

I'm filling up my glass half full
To break away from this push and pull
The scars of my past still sting and burn
But I've passed the point of no return

I like your rhyming here. Creates a rather bleak and forlorn effect. I can feel the hesitation mixed with desire to be loved after feeling hurt.
