Righters or Writers

People joke about writers

Witnessed so much ignorance

They cannot even spell righters

Yet they worship Jennifer Lawrence

 

People assume writers cannot verbalize

Western articulation stems from bullshit

Challenge them intellectually and they capsize

Take your pick: emphasis on Troy’s BradPitt

 

People think writers suffer from lassitude

Hemingway salutes you by the way

Urges you to take up the imagination aptitude

Go fetch a pen and paper and don’t cower away

 

People perceive writers as nerds

John Donne is a writer and is no fool

You can’t even rhyme let alone play billiards

Writers continue to learn, inspire, and can still be cool

i really appreciate this write, Leo...
have done many Poetry Workshops over the years for the Heartland Writers Group...and others...
and those conferences are comprised of novelists, poets, editors and agents...all involved with writing.
Those have been the best times...because it is being with other people who understand us...
even for people who enjoy reading, i think writers scare them in some way.
Love Hemingway, by the by, and in my Lit class I taught "Hills Like White Elephants" and my students liked it...i would have two students, male and female, read parts of the dialogue....and we would discuss the tone of each reading.

I’ve heard many stereotypes of writers, but I’ve never heard of any you present here! (Originality is my favorite thing). I had no idea this is how anyone thought of writers, but you’ve delivered a fun & playful spoof on how seriously some writers seem to take themselves & their craft. I’ll tell you the truth, if I get a friend request, I go check out some of their work before I answer. If I see signs that a writer is all puffed up, I don’t accept. So even tho I am unfamiliar with some of your references here, I totally agree with the overblown egos that can be created by getting some amount of audience! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie
