Love Hurts

Love Hurts

A Poem by Stacy Hessler

Sometimes love comes when you least expect it,
But when it does it's your job to grab it.
Hold it tight and never let it go,
Especially if it's a true and real love.
The type of love you never thought you would find,
Because it only comes once in a lifetime.
It can be hard to accept because of past heartbreak,
But take it because there is a lot at stake.
Never think you don't deserve it,
Never doubt that it's real.
Always believe and remember how it feels.
Because even when separated by distance,
Remembering that feeling only takes an instant.
Then you will know you don't ever want to let it go,
Don't ever be afraid to let your true feelings show.
Don't ever hold it all inside,
It's sometimes ok to cry.
But never tears of sadness only tears of joy.
Never would I dream of using you like a toy.
All I want to do is give you the love you deserve,
And show you just how much you are loved.
To tell you everyday,
This is what you dreamed of through all the past heartbreak,
Never again will your heart ache.
No matter how far the distance between us,
Keeping your heart protected is a must.
You have to trust in a love you have never known.
And believe in the way it has grown.
Trust in your heart and how you feel,
I can swear to you that this is for real.
Heartbreak hurts,
Trust me I know.
More times than not have I been through that show.
But it's time for the heartbreak to come to an end.
Your broken aching heart I want to mend.
To show you that you can't always control who you love,
But sometimes it can be great if only you have the strength to believe in it.
Trust that it can pull through anything,
And watch the true happiness it brings.
Heartbreak hurts,
But distance from love isn't the answer.
Especially when you deserve so much more,
Don't walk away from the door.
The door that leads to a life of true love and happiness,
When it can become pure bliss.
Even with distance between you,
You have to believe the love will remain true.
Broken hearts can be mended,
If only you allow the next person a chance to fix it.
A chance to give you what could possibly be the greatest love you have ever known.
Sometimes after the heartache and heartbreak you just need to take that chance.
A leap of faith toward something great.
It just may turn out to be fate.
