Good-Bye Lover

Good-Bye Lover

A Poem by Stacy Hessler

She sits in the shadows
Awaiting his arrival.
She will pounce the minute he is in sight.
Causing yet another fight.
She is tired of all deceit,
She is finally giving in to defeat.
Letting it all go is the best she can do,
Her sanity is fading
Her thoughts are askew.
She can't take the waiting.
Why does she expose herself to such pain?
Why is her love always in vain?
She is stepping into a peaceful place
The fears and heartache begin to erase.
It's time she put herself first,
Finally she will quench that thirst.
One that ends in her happiness.
She walks alone and has never felt better.
Knowing that no longer can he get her.
She is free to focus on her well being
Free to allow herself to bloom.
She knows it will take some time,
But to her that's just fine.
She needs the time away.
Never again will she stay.
With a man who doesn't respect her or care,
He just looks at her with a blank stare
Like a deer caught in the headlights.
He had no intention of making her his wife.
Who knows how many others he has out there?
She begins a journey today
One that will never lead her astray.
Because the focus is on her and the child.
She needs no one to hold her hand,
Especially not an uncaring man.
Today begins with a deep breath
And ends with solemn release.
There is no more defeat.

About
I have been writing poetry since I was about 8 or 9 and could probably fill quite a few books with it all. I would love to have a few books of my poetry published one day. These days I do not have a.. more..
