Answering Machine

A Poem by Kristin

I tried calling my voice of reason
And got sent to voice mail
I've left message,
after message,
after message
but I've gotten no reply.
The same voice recording
I hear every time
"Hey I couldn't make it
please leave a message after the beep!"
Leave a message,
Leave a message.
It beeps every time
Signalling me to start
But my throat closes up
Leaves me in silence.
I keep calling my voice of reason
But I cant get any help.

Intriguing way to portray your own sense of loss in the fog of your mind, which obscures your vision and causes you perceive things in ways you do not usually perceive. Forces you to adopt a constant state of paranoia in order not to injure yourself in accidentally running into an object.
