Contradiction

Contradiction

A Poem by Kristin

I’d rather be completely and utterly

childlike

Screaming immaturity  through the air

Than be irreplaceably

irreparably

Shattered

By the knowledge of the world

All around me

And the knowing

That all that knowledge

is man made

Therefore possibly not true at all

Instead containing a mind filled with wisdom

That doesn’t even exist,

I’d rather ring with laughter

Than a hollow,empty soul

This made me ponder. I really liked your ending stanza. A very powerful and moving piece of writing.

You have excellent flow and great imagery. I love your ending line; so somber but it fits perfectly. Great work!

Knowledge. Like the apple in the Old Testament, knowledge can be a burden. This is well written.

Ah, laughter! Where would humanity be without it? I can see how that would make one feel full rather than the knowledge of "a hollow, empty soul."
Brilliant. The last two lines set the rest off perfectly.

Ignorance is bliss, and in some ways, it truly is. "Knowledge is man made," and I find most of that 'wisdom' to be confined within the borders of organized religion.

this is great, so pure and so true. Very nice way of bringing your message, I also like the use of italics.. It has a very strong impact. Don't we all wish to remain childlike, only thing is that society doesn't allow us any more.. Great poem!

Oh, this is a sad place to be. I hear you. I understand, at least from my perspective; there's probably an overlap. As writing it's clear and searing. As a strategy it's workable but harsh. It may not be as bad as it seems. But, you probably don't want advice; just acknowledgement, right? Good poem too for what it's worth.
