Leave The Knife In

It sets in and I flinch,

Can't give much more not even an inch

You've taken from me again and again,

I've been nothing to you but a loyal loving friend

So do your damage and replace the knife,

Make sure you do it without ending my life

A quick thrust out and a quick thrust in,

A fresh blade you shove in my back seems hardly a sin

Oh dear friend how I still love you so,

I can't seem to ever tell you the word "No"

I let you re-open the wound that almost was healed,

My sweetest nightmare I watch as you wield

Another blade to my back as the first scar remains,

I am the very definition of the word "Insane"

Letting the same thing occur over and over with a hope of a different outcome,

Yet there never seems to be any other one

So know this in the gray area of your heart,

I'll let you sear me as much as you want just as long as we never part.

A very interesting poem. I like the movement and the story in this poem. To put a knife in someone back in the name of love maybe a bad thing. I like the directness of this poem. The words tells me.
