Got Lucky

12-26-2010 [My ex and I are friends and we hold no ill will towards one another......marriage was never in our cards.]

The low sitting heart,
Is offered to you
This began from the start,
Giving the devil his due
Now numbness has set in,
I see your glare at me
I know where you've been,
You still hold the key
open my soul,
Pour salt in my wounds
As the bowling ball shall roll,
A strike hits with gloom
An ex with a smile,
Another with a  frown
We've stood here a while,
A heart that sinks down
So know that 8 years of love and 'friendship',
It all meant some or nothing
Our roller coaster of a relationship,
Well at least we got out of it with a common relief that we never wore that ring.

Many great lines in the poem. 8 years in along time. We would know all strength and weaknesses. It ain't easy. After 8 years should be friends. I like the last line. A excellent poem.
