Jail Bird

Jail Bird

A Poem by StacyPerry

Taking the time to keep my wounds bound,
Knowing that you will only make them open once more
You speak to me with words so profound,
I believed the love you claimed for me as I had closed the door
We're together now and it shows in your eyes,
That there is no escaping me
Alone in a room planning my demise,
I am not sure how much time left I have so I sigh
You want me gone from your life from time to time,
I am too stubborn to accept you leaving me
You are never going to admit that my death was your choice as my hands you bind,
So we go round and round about how you want the killing to be
It won't be fast nor slow,
You'll take many instruments to use on me
After you carve into my soul,
You'll take my heart out to show it to my eyes to see
It ended with a fierce realization within my mind,
One that needed to be heard and seen
You are not of the loving kind,
I am going to be dead and you the jail bird.

I had a mother who found men she fought with like cat and dog. Took her 5 marriages to find a good man. This poem reminded me of her. Her escape was a Greyhound bus and one way ticket. I powerful poem. A strong ending to a very good poem.

This is very very good but rather chilling. Many one time love relationships end in a killing/murder. Love can kill, it seems.
