If You Love Someone

If you love someone set them free-

Even if you know they won’t come back.

If you hold on too tight you only make them hate you more.

You want that special person to see you as the real you,

Not the person full of jealousy and despair-

The person living the fantasy of a child.

Love is more complex than the storybooks you read.

If they don’t want your love then they won’t take it no matter how persistent you are.

You can’t control how they feel.

You just need to be with them.

If you truly love a person,

You should just be happy standing beside them.

You should just be happy knowing that they are happy.

If you love someone set them free.

It is a line we have heard all our lives.

But how many of us truly understand that concept?

Hello, I have just found you on the Writers Online page. I have read some of your poetry, have so far just on this one opted to review. I am liking the context of your work, and the imagination you have. Good job there. I am more old school as far as form, I grant, however I think your work may be more readable if you worked a bit more at cadence and rythme within a piece....mostly the cadence. The alternating short and then random longer lines take out the smoothness and flow of reading. It someitmes is a bit distracting from your content which is very good. Just a suggestion from an objective point of view. But I do like the content and creative views of your works that I have read so far. I would welcome you to review a few of my pieces to critique mine also. Thank you for your sharing your insights ! Very refreshing.

Love is a painful sometimes s****y thing. But when you have love, and true love, we should take it, whether it is in friendship, or in a relationship or any type of ship, we should be grateful, and stand by our loved ones.
A bit of a clean up and you'd have a masterpiece here. Fantastic work, and I look forward to reading more of your words. Well done
