Life

A Poem by Sheriah Mozelle

A smile filled with joy,
A memory being made,
Whispers hanging in the air,
A child riding their bike and scraping their knees,
A family,
Tears of sadness streaming down a person's face,
Pain as a raw emotion,
Anger fueled fights,
Dreams and aspirations being met and being abandoned,
Children growing like weeds,
Parks and playgrounds,
Songs being played with words drifting off into the wind,
Youthful memories being played over and over,
Wrinkled skin that is leathery and shows the veins beneath,
Elderly people moving to the end of the line,
Grandchildren in the kitchen tasting magnificent cookies,
Mothers and fathers hoping their children have a bright future,
Graduation and college,
Obstacles overcame and some that weren't,
Foster children feeling lonely and unwanted,
Teenage parents that are hopeless and give up,
Not all great and glorious,
Paths and choices without a hint as to where they end,
Friends lost and friends found,
Some lives ending too soon and too sudden,
Others waking up and taking advantage of the days before them,
Wild flowers blossoming in meadows,
Bees gathering honey and butterflies dancing about in their colors,
Night and day,
A million sunrises and sunsets.
