The Chasing Game

The Chasing Game

A Poem by Scout

You take one step forward

I take one step back

you compliment my beauty

analyze my ways

we spend a little time together

I learn about your past

we share a few interests and disagree on the rest

but you're missing out on the bigger picture

you confess your feelings of admiration

you think you fell in love

I admitt I can not return those feelings, but our friendship can last

I take one step forward

the moment the fire is out

the sparks stop

the moment that shallow idea of who you thought I was dissappears you give up

not worth the time

such a waste of space

you know so little about me

and yet for you that's where the story ends

if it is not easy to get

then it is not worth the work

who am I to expect a friendship before love?

to hope someone cares enough

to know me before they feel for me

you fell in love but with who?

the pretty girl who flattered you

what about the person beyond that?

my hopes and dreams are futile to you

my cares, loves, habits, even faults are too much to deal with

in fact my faults should be pointed out and changed

but those two weeks you knew me were long enough

I took one step froward

you took two steps back

About
I love writing and reading. It is the best feeling to sit down and write out your feelings in poetry, or imagine a dream world and write a novel. I can not imagine not writing ever, it is like my oxyg.. more..
