Regret

Regret

A Poem by Squiggly at Night

“You failed, didn’t you?”

All because I could not accept

That some things just are

That my home

Was ravished in broad daylight

And oh my neighbors wept

But their tears did not stop the pillaging

They wept about how I had failed

And wept about how it was okay

“You couldn’t have done anything, it’s only natural”

It brought back a memory

A memory of a younger you

Who told me to stop being silly

Because

There needn’t be a reason

For existence

Logic he said, logic he wept

Along with my neighbors

Ah, failure hurts
