The dody fairyA Poem by Craig ThomasJoe my son's idea written for my two year old who will soon be having a visit.
The dody fairy's coming
She's visiting our house She'll be landing in the night time As quiet as a mouse Why's she coming mummy What she gunna do I have a dody already Is she bringing number two? She doesn't bring you more This is really hard to say But she comes to see the big kids To take dodys away Oh mummy she can't do that I need it when I sleep I like it when I'm tired Without it I'll just weep You really shouldn't worry It's a very special visit She also brings a present That's not so bad now is it? I like a present mummy You know I like new stuff But swapping for my dummy That seems a little tough She'll take it to a better place Where dodys play and live Doesn't that sound nice now Come, would you like to give? It sounds very unusual I think I'd like to go Is Dodyland like Disneyland Please tell me what you know Well, each dummy grows a smiley face And looks a lot like its owner It grows tiny arms and legs And develops its own persona The dummys get a little house With a garden at the rear They lives in twos, pinks and blues quite happily I hear They spend their time remembering The time you kept them close They share their happy memories Of the one who loved them most As much as they love their owners They know that life moves on And know that you'll grow big and strong After they have gone They want you to be happy and always make a pact That if you miss them after two whole weeks They'll promise to come back Okay I think I understand But before I make the shift Can we have a chat now About the little gift Now the dummy means a lot to me And quite a lot to you It's you that got me hooked on it You're responsible here too Now I'm quite bright for a two year old My decisions aren't so rash I want something of value You're going to spend your cash So mummy spoiled her treasure And felt a little guilt The dody disappeared that night Presents lay on the quilt In a matter of just days The memories were all distant The dody fairy took the dummies And we really didn't miss them.
