Happy Anniversary

A friend asked me to write a poem for her impending anniversary. I chucked this one straight at her. I don't expect a phone call from clinton cards....

Wedding anniversary's bore me

They come round every year

I'm loathed to celebrate another

until they bring more cheer

Beer and cards and presents

and other things for me

the shallow stuff, is what I want

not sentimental twee
