Sentiments of the Heart

Sentiments of the Heart

A Poem by Steven Quan
"

Just a poem I wrote for someone special.

"

My love is banned

Only exposed to one

I utter apologies to the rest

I recognize what I require

And realized it’s essentially all I need

Going to pursue her love once more

As I was unsuccessful twice before

Eager for another opportunity

I witnessed you diminish slowly

Little by little piece by piece and bit by bit

I long to delicately put you back together

Never allowing it to take place again

My faults have been converted into lessons

I have learned and they have taught me well

I’ve been disciplined like never before

I am more clever than the man I used to be

Unfasten your heart this I plead

Allow me to cross the threshold

I vow my love for you is everlasting

I promise it will endure beyond eternity

Imagine you and I an infinity

Seize my hand

Simultaneously we entwine

You can’t fight the inevitable

We were predestined

Simply what was meant to be

It has quite a conversational tone to it, which I like.
