The Smile on a Dial of Another MachineA Poem by OtherWorldWoman
I am not yet prepared to surrender myself
A smile on the dial of another machine Draws my sinews to waver Threatens them to snap... Leaving me lifeless and alone Cold and breathless death of words Empty oxygen tank An odour of meth All that is left A smile on the dial of another machine Its brighter and more sound even in the shining rays cast by the flawless surroundings Tis too great, and too flawless As I whisper to myself back and forth the formation of words like a boomerang Everchanging; Neverlasting The tap that drips incessantly Chinese water torture A mind so vulnerable to thoughtful reason How wonderful it might be if my mindful thoughts might be splayed like a picnic blanket across your screen of vision It might then click in your mind in the fault that is mine and mine alone in the way of things I cannot hope to change And yet...once again your effervescence competing wildly Sprinting to meet the mark Altered, Non-faltered sparks Fireworks shatter high Glazed reflection vivid in the glimmer of our eyes It draws my sinews to waver It threatens them to snap Leaving me lifeless Lifeless and alone © 2011 OtherWorldWoman |
