Spirits Playing in the Shadows

Spirits Playing in the Shadows

A Poem by OtherWorldWoman

The air is stubborn
and sleeping
My body is a carcass on the floor
Cells scream loud to stay alive
Skin deteriorates
Flesh peeling down to bone
Hair stringy, loose inside its pores
I'm falling apart
I'm falling
There's none of me left to hate
There's no stranger on the sidelines
Longing to be loved
No breath inside a body
That doesn't exist

"Its almost as if she was never there"
Death sweeps her off her feet
Her beautiful forgotten face
Receded to a soul
Dancing through the shadows
Her sorrow lost in a past
No longer belonging to her.

Strong diction and some great imagery. I especially like the line,
"Cells scream loud to stay alive
Skin deteriorates
Flesh peeling down to bone."
:D Great Job!
