Trepidation & Bliss

Trepidation & Bliss

A Poem by OtherWorldWoman
"

This poem is dedicated to my stepfather, Dave, in light of his passion for diving.

"
Submersed beneath the intimidating boundaries
of life and death
gazing down at the darkened dearth below me
my heart begins to hammer against my chest
ten times harder
and I resist the violent urge
to shatter through the surface above me
or is it below me?
Which way is up and which way is down?
A hand pulls me downward
encouraging me to move
pressure increases quickly
breath faint and irregular
mind electrifies with raging terror
and wild thrill
as I swim down further
bubbles whirling around me
chest releases tension
replacing it with pleasure
and freedom.

The water can awake the spirit to come alive. Diving must be a great high. I suicide board most of the oceans in the world. Never had the balance for a surf board or diving. I like this poem. I know the feeling of being free and alone with the water and the challenge. A outstanding poem. Made me wish to be near the Pacific ocean once again.
