Frost Falls

Frost Falls

A Poem by OtherWorldWoman

Frost falls.
Crystallized flakes
against the pale palour of the shattered sky
Billows of smoky wind encircle the trees
Whispering through the twisted icicles settled in stiff branches
Dawn breaks
and the snow covered grass
is concealed by a sea of fog
leaching away as the sun
rises higher and higher above
Slowly it begins to slip and decline
into the darkening shadows of the horizon
Scarlet. Mandarin. Plum.
Vibrantly painted between the clouds
As in a leak in the lowset glass of a fishtank
colours flow out like water
Gleaming with unique flavour against a tasteless palette...

I hate winter. But this is so beautiful that I actually find myself yearning for it just to see this picture you've painted with words. I'm saving this in my favorites. If you can make me change my mind about a season I loathe, you deserve to be there.

I like this stunning little exercise in description. You take abstract notions of color and a specific setting and flesh them out beautifully. This is definitely something you're good at.
