Wrong

Wrong

A Poem by Jana Wilde

Wrong

I was so wrong

wrong to think I could be loved

wrong to act like I deserved it

wrong to be the last thing you needed

wrong to not be the first thing you wanted

wrong to love others better than myself

wrong to hate myself more than them

wrong to create a doomed path

wrong to  destroy any hope of turning back

wrong to nuture hopes of true love

wrong to ignore when its time to go

wrong to leave without saying goodbye

wrong to stay without saying the rest

wrong to fight for a hopeless cause

wrong to allow the flood of pain to overwhelm

wrong to begin to loose hope; despair

wrong to end nothing well

I was so wrong

But now I am right

You, I did perfectly

Little one, so dear

With all these wrongs, perfection was near
