dandelion seeds (goodbye)

dandelion seeds (goodbye)

A Poem by Daisy Ackerman

I.

how sorry it is, the thought of goodbye

the ending so close in sight

that you could touch it, will touch it,

the light so blinding you cannot see past it

and can only move through to the unknown,

to something beautiful or tragic

or somewhere in between.

II.

how sorry it is so have something so wonderful

to leave behind

how wonderful it is to have something you are sorry

to say goodbye to; friends, lovers,

flying in every direction like dandelion seeds

blown astray by the wind, and you reach out to catch them

but cannot; you too are a seed

destined for a new field.

destined to say goodbye.

Love lost on a breath of the wind. Lovely poem, Daisy. Or is it Katrina? Haha.

I prefer Daisy! Haha.
Beautiful phrasing and languid flow, sadness without regret or sentimentality. Nice one.
