OF DESERTSA Poem by SAYED THANGALWild beauty stretching out,.......
Fail my sharp eyes to trace your boundaries
And infirm my firm feet to stride on. The lashing wind turned you to waves Of unending , the vast desert. Transformed your stretching laps as milky bay When the full moon flashes from above. Amid the wilderness , who spotted the oasis And fountains to preserve them green and live, A centre of shade to stay cool And to quench the thirsty lips. Who deputed the birds marvellous To sing for me, the song never heard before. Provoke me to come again, and again And forget the feet so far ached. Who bestowed the unique mastery To walk on the burned and dried sand For the camels under the hot sun.
