TO MATURITY

TO MATURITY

A Poem by SAYED THANGAL
"

As ages grow every thing become mature

"
TO MATURITY

The long span, the branches widened

Hard, very deep and firm the roots.

Of twigs, buds, flowers the merry chirps

The lively, vast the trunk, contented.

Heavy snow, freezing cold, extreme drought

Storms and earth quakes passed over

     Pathetic the days, earnestly survived,

     Preserved the fruits, satisfied.

Knew not the days passed, the growth

Turned to maturity, the golden period

The prime almost past, turn never back,

Firm with full spirit, the wrinkled youth.

Feel not a frustration, nor a stagnation

Refined instead, but to set aside the vexation

New seeds come up, intensely watch

The experienced, matured, the living legend.

You/I can tell you work with the land in your spare time, it's only getting up that close to a tree or plant that you see all these things, a beautiful homage to the things which (some of them) give us food. The words you use are so perfectly sparse yet fully convey the idea, a very enjoyable read.
