ODE TO THE SEA

ODE TO THE SEA

A Poem by SAYED THANGAL
"

A person who lost the dear one, comes to the sea shore, hoping the waves would bring some news, ..........

"
ODE TO THE SEA

On the shore alone I stand

Gazing at the waves dashing over the sand

Lapse of time never bother

Till falls the setting sun to smother

Where 've gone my dear one ?

Seeking means of life beyond the sea.

One day would the waves

Bring me news - the happy return.

To my desperate shelter, I return

With hope in mind, the morrow next

Do I stand again in the eyes cast

At the sea waves distant

With the cry of sea gulls

Mixing with the murmur of the sea breeze

When we lose one we love sometimes there are places and things that make us feel closer to our loved ones.Well penned Sayed.

I understand :)
The poem has a worthy message and in general is well done. I hope you won't mind a few technical comments that, I hope, will not detract from my appreciation in your mind. I assume line-syllable count/matching was intentionally ignored. That being said then it might read better to say, "Gazing at the waves dashing over the sand " (adding the -ing to dash does not change the tense or meaning and is a more traditional idiomatic phrasing in most forms of English.) Also, what is the sun supposed to be smothering? Finally, I really like the last stanza:

Do I stand again in the eyes cast
At the sea waves distant
With the cry of sea gulls
Mixing with the murmur of the sea breeze

It actually makes sense although it is a unique way for the speaker to reflect upon if it is really themselves that stand looking through those eyes. Sort of a disassociation of self. A psychologist would certainly have fun with it.

100 distant waves
