Asphalt

Asphalt

A Poem by Norrin Shearer

The asphalt is dark, worn, and torn
It is split down the middle
A ravine created by constant use
Having to support endless waves of people
Is stressful and requires much strength
And though the best is not always enough
The dark, worn, and torn asphalt
gives all it has
Its strength is always there
It wears its scar with pride
Sacrificing itself for others
The most noble of deeds
The asphalt is strong
Though old and beaten
It continues to thrive
