Wherever the World Ends Up

Wherever the World Ends Up

A Poem by JT Bateman
"

The dust-and-bones version of a song I was writing on my acoustic. I scrapped the idea and added more poetic elements and I ended up with a much finer product...

"

im not promisin nothin no more
i cant help that i cant hold
whats in store

i just dont know anymore
yeah i guess ill just
ride out the storm

and sit right here with you forever
maybe im as weak as a feather for saying but girl
im so messed up
maybe we can sit for a while and jus chill
and dont worry about the bills even though
its so messed up
and we can watch the sunset fall
into the ocean as if cradle arms, no
and i dont care
wherever the world will drop us off in the morning
and leave us there like basket babies, yeah

i cant feel nothin no more
without feeling the sands
from where it has crashed into the shore

and no i cant trust myself no more
i cant bring myself as human
to do spiritual things as lore

all i can do is sit read and learn about the world
and just sort of exist in this spin
that were caught in
its al lwe can do at this current moment in time
give it up to the higher power
that digs us in
and im just keeping sane trying to think with my brain
and just not, no never go insane
please hear me
wherever the world ends up with you and me yeah
aint that the place to be?

aint the lord so funny knows the way to make the world go round
in his own little bobbleheaded way i twist and turn
where do we go?
am i the man with no better plan than to sit and watch the sands form diamonds
literally metaphysically
and im simply twisting around in the world as it spins
oh and what god has trapped me in ohh

yeah and i suppose its whats expected to be trapped in the world
caged up like an animal, no mankind cant fly
its so messed up
how we cant talk to all the happy little creatures
yeah theyre happy they know the secret of life
its so messed up
but maybe they dont talk because the words they kill
and thank god they blessed the zipped lips oh
this i swear
together and wherever the world ends up
is the place to be

together and wherever the world ends up
is the place to be
