Silent sands...A Poem by DaveMDreaming of a world bereft of warSilent sands...
If by secret guile or strength of will by source of wisdom hidden away in tombs of men from some bygone day
If thus I could with swish of magic wand dispel illusions of power and source return again to simple lands on its silent sands wile away the day to hold once more within my heart a childish dream my emotions ever in its sway.
But wake I must to present things the rumble of distant war drums in steady beat To children composed of flesh and bone whose future now lies crushed in cordite caverns made by men Whose families, one second to the next, no more to beckon with open arms to offer warmth and words secure
Be happy and make light of each day, they say. Pause to gaze upon some flower nodding in the breeze. And when within the sky appears a brilliant curve of colors wedded band on band sigh with temperate heart to show your own watching soul your appreciation at its sight.
That this soft advice I could adopt and float away from doubt and hate Block thus my mind from morbid thoughts that usher from humming television screens Unloading upon my reluctant brain a million bites of dreary uninvited words and scenes. Return could I to worlds in peace, to a simple experience a kinder fate.
