Death, My FriendA Poem by SpiritFingersAll friendships must come to an end.
Death, my friend
and father Inside the mother who birthed me a curse and legacy now inside of me in my flesh, my heart and every breath whispering: 'one more, one more' and I ask him, One more? Just one please, one more? Death, my friend and brother Walking my same path in sun or rain or freeway underpass like a hand in my hand in my shadow with a kindly smile whispering: 'someday, someday' and I beg him, Someday? Promise me- not soon, but someday? Death, my friend and lover Too often in my bed the kitchen, the bus and the bathroom mirror mocking me, taunting while in close embrace like desperation whispering: 'right now, right now' until there is no question but finally an answer. © 2014 SpiritFingersReviews
