lazy day

lazy day

A Poem by little bad puppy
"

i don't want to get out of bed

"
I peek for beneath the covers at the world.
My warm nest of sleep protecting me.
My dreams call me back to their world.
The sun beckons me into the day.
My responsibility piled like a mountain before me.
I do not want to leave.
The stiffness of the dreams in my body.
I can hear people outside my door.
I smell bacon cooking in the kitchen.
My stomach protest my choice of stillness.
The cat looks for his breakfast in vein.
I do not want to leave.
The clock marches closer.
I can feel my life creeping in on me.
My mom calls me to emerge from my hiding.
Unfinished homework mocks me from my desk.
Sour taste of sleep in my mouth.
I guess i have to leave

I think we can all relate to this, esp if it's cold or rainy outside. Just want to stay in the embryonic embrace of the bed.

I like the line "my responsibility piled like a mountain". It gives a good sense of being overwhelmed.

The one thing I would suggest is that perhaps instead of saying I smell the neighbors cooking next door, maybe be more specific like 'I can smell bacon sizzling from the neighbors window' or something like that. A little more detailed/imagery. Just a thought.

Nice poem.

People all have days like this. I can see someone in bed peering out over their sheets. I like how all the actions happening drew the person out of bed even when they didn't want to leave. A good twist on the morning kid.

Definitely one we can all relate to - whatever the reason for wanting to remain in bed escaping into dreamland instead of having to live in the real world!
