Past Tense

Past Tense

A Poem by sweetspicedgherkins

When my lights go dim
And my sparkle fades
When my thoughts take over
And life gets to hard

When pain crushes my soul
And I can’t walk far
Or when I scream and shout
For no reason at all

When I don’t understand
And I’m to tired to talk
You said you’d be here
So where are you now?

My blackened world
The end of the path
My broken bones
And weary heart

The weight of the world
My shoulders carry
A once shared load
Now a solo ride

So where are you now?
I’m falling apart
Your broken promises
And my blood stained sheets

I am nothing
But the shell of a person
Standing, breathing, accepting
A life of lies

So where are you now?
Because at some point I needed you
But not anymore
