Teenage Dream

Teenage Dream

A Poem by spenderlou
"

This is a really stupid story, it has no basis in reality, and was a waster of time to make.

"

I've heard a lot about this “teenage dream”

The idea is that of being carefree

But whoever said that must not have been

A modern, American, teen.

Care free?

Please,

I’ve got to be,

Smart, nice, and caring,

As well as not letting people take advantage of me!

I’ve got quite a bit on my plate,

As of late,

And I’ve no time to sit around and debate

Im looking at college, and soaking up knowledge

You’d think i was a sponge!

Of course I’m into music,

Punk, Shoegaze and grunge.

I guess its a bit sappy

but it helps get through the day,

Its hard to be happy

when you never have a say.

Im expected to act like an adult

when i have no rights.

When i get into fights,

Its just injury to insult.

I dont understand this teenage dream,

But its nice to hear,

That beliefs stay agleam,

And there is always people who endear

For the past is the past,

And the future will come and go

But wishing always lasts.

And i hope you’ll all do some!
