![]() The Power of MagicA Poem by spence![]() Mandatory Christmas Poem![]() The cold wind blows… the frozen flow… that floats down to the ground Comes to rest… as tree bough clouds… and on rooftops all around White sands ignite… as street lamps light… an effervescent glow Crystalline bright… this Christmas night… such warmth perceived from cold Children look outside… Mesmerised… as angels flutter and fall Magic resides… in innocent minds… that picture good old Santa Claus Small fingers point skyward to where reindeer might fly On the giving of gifts to every small child Saint Nicholas steers while checking his list To ensure much cheer and no children are missed They follow the twilight and return with the dawning Only stopping to rest when we wake Christmas morning When parcels ‘round the Christmas Trees Are torn open with delighted glee Hands search for what eyes crave to see, Until, finally, the gift’s revealed Parents smile at their children’s faces Family and friends come from different places To meet once a year and share good cheer And commemorate all that passed to get here While far away at the cold North Pole Santa’s workers make merry at home From the long north night they remind the living That the power of magic is love, peace and giving © 2010 spenceAuthor's Note
