Turn Off The LightA Story by spenceVery Short Horror TaleAmy leapt from her bed and ran toward the light switch at the opposite side of the room. The creeping crawling predator meant to consume her; tear her apart in its razor sharp claws and ingest her rendered segments into it’s drooling maw, but she was close to escaping the fear now. The switch only a moment away from her shaking finger. In the darkness the threat had seemed real, the fear of the unknown evil had essence; the glistening flesh of the beast tangible; tactile to the touch. The entire nightmare had felt real, but Amy knew that the light would chase night into the shadows and quell the terror that saturated her mind and soul. Her finger twitched to flick the switch, the bulb powered- the room became enlightened. Amy turned to feel relief, but saw, to her despair, that the nightmare was real and all the more horrific when exposed to her sight. In the terrifying seconds before she was devoured, Amy turned off the light. © 2010 spence |
