Hemmed Horizons; Hellbound HighwaysA Poem by spenceAn attempt at sonnet form
Narrow roads all lead to broad horizons
But obstacles have eyes trained firmly down. More distractions lay in wait before the highlands Tempting trinkets, false existence all around Some hunt about the roadside, to forage for more While they walk the beaten track that has been paved They dare not raise their gaze in fear of shock and awe From the cradle to the grave they are enslaved But those that dare, will reach to touch the light And see the paradise that dwells above Then they’ll fight against the envelope of night That has shrouded hopes and dreams of peace and love A new dawn will be hailed against the darkness And the measure of a man shall be his sharpness © 2010 spence |
