Blood Beneath The Surface; A Western Villanelle

Blood Beneath The Surface; A Western Villanelle

I don't think I'm very good at Villanelle's, but I really like the form. Any advice would be greatly recieved.

"

The blood beneath the surface of your civilised disguise
Escaping the perception of those blinkered star struck eyes
While you dream the world is screaming in the depths of all that hides

There’s blood beneath the surface of the first world fast food nations
It flows beneath the battlefields of endless subjugation
The blood beneath the surface of your civilised disguise

There’s blood beneath the surface of those killing industries
It flows throughout the sweatshops, sticks to cellophane from meat
While you dream the world is screaming in the depths of all that hides

There’s blood beneath the movement of endless self-improvement
Where Kings and Queens have plastic dreams to outperform the losers
The blood beneath the surface of your civilised disguise

There’s blood beneath the surface of the sham democracy
Wealth elected, pre-selected above a hierarchy of poverty
While you dream the world is screaming in the depths of all that hides

So much blood beneath the surface of the world of privilege
The few that lie cost so much life; don’t turn your back on this
The blood beneath the surface of your civilised disguise
While you dream the world is screaming in the depths of all that hides

Author's Note

spence
I don't think I've been very successful with this form and I'm looking for advice and guidance, hints and tips on means of improvement. I accept that my failings are possibly because of the subject matter I usually choose to comment on, (too prescriptive perhaps?), but I never seem to capture the 'feeling' of a villanelle!
