The Regrets

The Regrets

A Poem by spence

On advancing highways as you get ever older
You’re glancing sideways- as over your shoulder
They niggle away - as they follow behind
To try and take over the thoughts in your mind
They’re nagging away inside of your head
‘If only- if only- you’d done that instead!’
Lurking in shadows they try to remind
So you rue your actions and words so unkind
You begin to lament when you’ve not told the truth
You want to repent your own misspent youth
They haggle your penance as behind your own back
These unwanted tenants unite to attack
They’ll hunt you down- like the bully at school
Turn your smile to a frown as they call you a fool
Some people may say they’ve had only a few
But most have more than they intended to.
So for my own peace of mind I thought my best bet
Was to live out my life without The Regrets

i found it very cool, and wise not to live with regrets~ nice flow of words, plus some catchy wordplay; enjoyed :)
