Sunsets on Mars

Sunsets on Mars

A Poem by Jay
"

~From the stars to their light,to the moon and its shadow, the darkness that resides in its midst only lies behind the light of its better half~

"

A galaxy of thoughts that swirl in your mind,

Electrons firing and Neurons blasting

From Pluto to Venus

And on from Saturn to the Ivory sunsets that land on Mars.

You stop and wonder

No.

You try your damnedest to believe.

Believe that the spaceships and the stars,

that the rockets and the red flares

Or the Martians and the fairy tales you heard of as a kid

were more than just lies,

From those who believed us to be too naive to trust in our own judgment

And forge a path of less misery for our lives.

For your life, for mine.

To believe in something that would be enough,

To make you feel as if it ever could be,

Yet knowing that it never will.

What could possibly come close to an answer that we could fully accept for what it is?

And where?

Where we could even begin to search for an answer?

Caring as I do I can't help but think that maybe,

just maybe you might wonder how or if?

There could ever be a moment

Where the lines of fate wouldn't dictate the hope that we have to fully understand one another, or if such an answer would subside the lingering thoughts of whether or not those around us could do the same.

To know that who they say is more than just a couple angry loners and shut outs who don't fit in.

With all we've done, beyond what I know

And more than I could have ever hoped to convey

I sit with these thoughts and lay in the night

As the stars burn through the sky.

Under the sunsets that reside only on Mars.

I've written so much that these days it seems like I might have said all I have to say. I just hope this one is able to relate to more than just myself.

Jay - Man's dreams and the actions he puts behind them to make them real has gotten him from the top of a mountain to the top of a Moon and eventually will to the top of Mars and beyond. I'm packing my bags Jay and I'm ready to go. Intriguing write. Namyh

it was a good effort. i think the line that kind of jerked me the wrong way was when you said "to know that who they say is more than just a couple angry loners and shut outs who don't fit in." probably just me but it felt kind of weird to read such a beautiful work just to see the word "loner." not sure if there's a better word to say, but there's my two cents
