Unforgettable

Unforgettable

A Poem by Jay
"

"There's no such thing as easily forgotten ..... you just haven't found your way to be remembered yet"

"

A mind

Fruitful and alert

But broken and alone.

Eyes menacing yet true,

Cold but understanding.

Unforgiving yet compassionate

Bright with promise

Yet glazed over by constant trouble.

Ears

Filled with the melody and the pain of those closest enough to listen

but deaf to the tragedy of life lost

And forgotten

When faced with a decision to determine the fate of one's own sanity.

Thoughts

Visions made reality

after yearning for their chance to be realized.

Screaming so hard their voices cracked and bled

just for the chance  to have their voices heard.

Infinite is the feeling of insanity.

When you accept your fate and choose to fight like hell in order to forge a new one.

Primal, unadulterated rage

It manifests as the idea of joy slips through our fingers

The reality that you must lie down and accept the terms of a deal made before your being was even brought to light.

"Accept it" is what they tell you in the hopes of quailing that fire in your soul.

Unbeknownst to the idea that it is they, that made it burn brighter than ever by believing you to be no better than they allowed you to be.

This life, you think to yourself

The time it takes to build one you’re proud of, is half a lifetime lost that could have been spent living it.

I really enjoyed this poem, my favorite lines were "Screaming so hard their voices cracked and bled

just for the chance  to have their voices heard.

Infinite is the feeling of insanity....."

There are some absolutely gorgeous lines in this poem. I think there is a lot of emotion behind it, and I think it's pretty universal in terms of anyone who reads it will find something. The only critique I might have is the use of ellipses, I think the poem would work without them as well. Overall, very enjoyable!
