MidnightA Poem by JayFrom me to you
I read and I write hoping that with every word
There will be a different outcome Thinking that maybe this time Things might work out for the better. Hiding behind wishes for change Instead of facing the life we were born into And the mistakes we've made along the way Right in front of us sits the legacy of our trial and error The constant battle between light and dark That rages on inside us all (some more than others) If not kept in check begins to take its toll On even the most invincible of heroes Going toe to toe with your own demons Is as daunting a task as any Knowing that you'll lose the side of yourself That still yearns for goodness Knowing that your irredeemable destiny Will soon be swallowed whole By your ambitions and inconceivable ideas The one's that you have forced So far into the back of your mind And to the depths of your soul That the mere thought of them Sends shivers down your spine Appalled that these thoughts Could actually be things you wished into existence But satisfied as to the fact that neither your feelings for her Or the influence of society and those around you Were enough to extinguish the flame that burned Ever so brightly in the depth of your soul. Smiling with no expression we sit in peace And tranquillity taking in the lessons Life has taught us from here after ~These are the words of one soul to another from my mind to your heart. From my heart..... to the ears of those above and beyond even our wildest dreams.~ © 2016 JayAuthor's Note
