A young child struggling to understand sharing with a bad habit of grabbing learns it's more fun to play together and apologies matter. Short story about 2 characters from my books in happier times
Folco pouted. The teacher liked Lindo better. Why else would she make him stand in the corner? All he’d done was grab the ball. That hobbit had it forever. He’d wanted a turn. Unfair.
After forever, a hand touched his shoulder. “Ready to play nicely?” Folco did what he knew would get him out of trouble. Nod. “And tell Lindo you’re sorry.”
Scowling, he walked to the other five-year-old- who smiled instead of saying something mean. Folco’s lips quavered. “Sorry,” he mumbled.
Lindo held out the ball. “Here. You can use it.”
“Want to play catch together?”
Lindo beamed. “Okay.”
This story occurs in Common Calendar 3001 in the fantasy world Folco, Lindo and their teacher inhabit, 8 years before my book "Democracy's End" and 13 years before "Fallen Ones" and "Traitor Princess."

this is cute. Is this suppose to be the Falco - Lindo meeting point?
I'm not sure I could do anything to improve this. Falco felt real for his age.
I'm going to have to start doing some of this flash fiction for my characters. I'm sure I'd learn more about them if I did.

And yeah, Folco might have four older siblings, but he's used to being babied and indulged as the youngest, and his parents are wealthy enough that only *some* of his stuff are hand-me-downs from his older brother- though at least he understands the idea of playing with others! He just needs to learn patience and not doing impulsive things like grabbing.
Yes, flash fiction is proving very useful. It should be fun to read some of yours.
